Weekly Meal Breakdown #11

This week I decided I was going to try a lot of new recipes. Even though I know that I don't, I feel like I make the same stuff over and over again. I guess its just because I use similar ingredients each time.

Sunday - Adobo steaks with Mushroom Risotto and Green Bean Bundles
3 steaks $15.00
shitake mushrooms $3.48
arborio rice $0.39
green beans $0.96
3 slices bacon $0.36
Total: $20.19

Monday - Shrimp Scampi with Crusty Bread
1 lb. shrimp $3.99
1/2 box linguine $0.60
Italian bread $0.89
Total: $5.48

1/2 bag frozen corn $0.39
1 red pepper $1.59
1 green pepper $1.48
1/2 pint half and half $0.68
Total: $7.72

Thursday - Meatball Subs
1 lb. ground beef $1.24
4 hoagie rolls $1.99
1 can tomato sauce $0.73
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese $0.62
Total: $4.58

Friday - Mango Habanero Chicken Sandwiches
3 thin chicken breast cutlets $3.76
4 hoagie rolls $1.99
3 slices provolone cheese $0.72
1/4 cup cheddar cheese $0.62
1/4 bottle mango habanero sauce $0.60
1 jalapeno $0.25
Total: $7.94

The total for this week is $49.55. A bit higher than most weeks, but I have a feeling that the chicken cutlets I'm using for the mango habanero sandwich contains more than 3 in a pack and I'll have to cook them up on Sunday or something.

There is a sandwich that I'm really excited about making for lunches this week. I don't know what made me think of it, but the idea of turkey and cranberry just popped into my head (I know, we're months from Thanksgiving) so I started looking at recipes online. I found one that uses turkey, cream cheese and cranberry sauce. I can't wait to make for it lunch this week and see how good it is!
