Turkey Cranberry Monte Cristo Sandwiches

A great sandwich to make using up Thanksgiving leftovers, this turkey cranberry monte cristo is perfect for brunch or lunch with it's sweet and savory combination.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick cut bread
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz turkey breast sliced
  • 3 tablespoon cranberry sauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Spread cranberry sauce on each slice of bread, then top the slices with cheddar cheese.
    4 slices thick cut bread, 3 tablespoon cranberry sauce, 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Divide the turkey between the sandwiches and place one slice of bread on top of the other to form the sandwich.

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
    1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk until combined. Dip the sandwich into the batter, then flip it over and dip the other side in. Repeat with the other sandwich.
    2 large eggs, ⅓ cup milk
  • Add the sandwiches to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy. Remove from the skillet and slice in half, sprinkling both sandwiches with powdered sugar.

  • Serve turkey cranberry monte cristo sandwiches immediately for best results.

Notes

Substitutions: swiss, American, provolone, pepperjack are all great cheese substitutions. Replace cranberry sauce with strawberry or raspberry jam. 
Serving: serve with a vinegar based salad, green salad, or a dill pickle!
