Ingredients
1box puff pastrythawed
3medium Envy Applespeeled, cored and thinly sliced
¼cupsugar
1teaspooncinnamon
1egg
¼cupsanding sugaroptional
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
Combine apples, sugar and cinnamon together in a medium bowl, tossing to coat. Set aside.
Unfold one sheet of puff pastry and place it onto the prepared baking sheet. Roll it out to a 12x16 rectangle. On the long ends, use a sharp knife to cut in 2 inches from either end, creating strips that you can fold up.
Repeat with the other sheet of puff pastry.
Layer half of the apple mixture down the center of the puff pastry and fold in the strips, alternating sides to create a braided look. Repeat with the remaining apples and sheet of puff pastry.
Lightly beat the egg in a small bowl and brush on top of both puff pastry braids.
Sprinkle the sanding sugar on top of both braids.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
Cool slightly on the baking sheet before cutting into 4-6 pieces per braid.
Notes
If you don't have sanding sugar, a coarse sugar will work the same.
