For the Crust
- refrigerated pie crust store-bought or homemade
For the Filling
- 6-8 ripe pears peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoon all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For the Topping
- 5 tablespoon unsalted butter softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
For the Crust:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Roll out the pie crust into a deep dish pie plate. Prick the pie crust with a fork.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and set aside.
For the Filling:
Combine pear slices with fresh ginger in a large bowl. Squeeze lemon juice on top. Sprinkle sugar on top. Let rest for 10 minutes.
Drain excess liquid. Add flour, ground cinnamon and nutmeg and salt. Toss to coat.
Layer pears into an even layer in the prebaked pie plate.
