Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 16 oz mini marshmallows fruit flavored or regular
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • ¼ cup sprinkles Easter or spring colored/designed

Instructions

  • Line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter over low in a large saucepan, then stir in the vanilla and marshmallows. Stir until marshmallows have melted.
  • Remove from the heat and fold in the rice krispies cereal.
  • Spread out into a layer in the prepared baking sheet, being careful not to press down the mixture too hard. Add sprinkles on top.
  • Let sit for 1 hour until cooled and hardened and then cut into squares.

Notes

Vanilla is optional, but adds a nice flavor to the treats. If you cannot find the fruity mini marshmallows use plain ones. After rice krispie treats have cooled and been sliced, store in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
