Bacon and Onion Green Beans

Bacon and onion green beans is an easy to make side dish with a ton of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 5 slices bacon
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 package steam in a bag green beans
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium high heat and place the slices of bacon inside.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until crisp.
  • Remove bacon to a paper towel lined plate.
  • Steam green beans according to package directions, draining water.
  • Remove excess bacon grease from the pan, leaving 1 tablespoon in the pan.
  • Reduce the heat to medium low and add in the onion, cooking for 5-7 minutes or until softened.
  • Add in the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add the green beans to the skillet and toss to coat.
  • Crumble the bacon and stir into the green bean mixture.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Olive oil can be used in place of the bacon fat if you don't like to cook your bacon in a skillet.
Fresh green beans can be used in place of frozen. Cook until tender crisp before mixing into the onions and garlic.
