Poisoned Apple Hand Pies
Hand Pies are served "poisoned" for Halloween with these cute decorations.

Ingredients
- 1 large apple peeled and finely diced
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 2 rolls pie dough
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- green or black food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the pie dough and each roll cut into 6 rounds with a large cookie cutter.
- Toss the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together in a medium bowl.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of the apple mixture into the center of half of the cut out pieces of pie dough. Place the remaining pieces of dough on top and use a fork to crimp the edges closed. Poke a few holes in the top of each.
- Brush over each with the lightly beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool.
- Use food coloring to draw skulls, crossbones or other indicators of "poison" on top of the hand pies. Optionally, sprinkle sugar on top of the food coloring.
