Did you know you can buy from me? I'm not just a food blogger existing on a random corner of the internet. I also sell my baked goods at events like craft shows and for weddings/parties under the name Cookaholic Wife Confections.
What do I sell?
As I am a home baker (meaning I do not have a commercial kitchen) I can sell certain baked goods that fall under the guidelines of Maryland's Cottage Food Laws. Typically I will sell:
- cupcakes with approved frosting
- fruit pies
- cookies
- cakes
- donut holes
- bars, brownies and blondies
- hot cocoa bombs
- muffins
- quick and/or yeasted breads
- snack items such as: chocolate covered marshmallows or pretzels, muddy buddies/puppy chow, seasoned pretzels and goldfish, etc
- cookie mix jars

What are Maryland Cottage Food Laws
Each state has guidelines on what home bakers and chefs can prepare in their home kitchens and sell to the public. Not only does this include approved foods that can be made, but requirements for packaging, including allergens and where items can be sold.
In Maryland you cannot sell items with fillings or frostings that are not shelf-stable and that require refrigeration. Example: Cream Cheese Frosting - I could not sell a cupcake topped with cream cheese frosting because cream cheese requires refrigeration. But I could sell a cupcake that had cream cheese flavored frosting as long as the ingredients in it fell under the guidelines.
Also, I can only sell my items within the state. Maryland does not allow you to ship items baked under cottage food laws outside of the state. My apologies if you're not local and looking for something.
