Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix Jars is the recipe for how to make the cookies, sold by me under the name Cookaholic Wife Confections at craft/bake sale events in Maryland.
If you've purchased a jar of Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix from me at an event in Maryland, here is the recipe for how to bake the cookies.
Ingredients in the Jar
- all purpose flour (¾ cup)
- granulated sugar (⅓ cup)
- baking soda (¼ tsp)
- salt (¼ tsp)
- light brown sugar (¼ cup)
- semi-sweet chocolate chips (½ cup)
Ingredients needed to make cookies
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
How to make Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix from the Jar
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Then, beat the butter until smooth - either using a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or a large, heavy-bottom bowl and a hand mixer.
Next, add in the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
Once those ingredients are fully incorporated, pour in your jar of cookie mix. Mix on low speed until combined.
Scoop out rounded tablespoons sizes heaps of dough and place onto the prepared baking sheet, placing about 2 inches apart.
Then bake for 8-10 minutes until cookies are golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool on the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an air-tight container for up to 1 week.
FAQ
If your butter was too soft, this can result in flat cookies. They still taste great, but you can either refrigerate your dough for 30 minutes before baking, or make sure your butter isn't too soft and your baking soda is still fresh.
This recipe was created to make approximately 1 dozen cookies. The number of cookies will vary by the size of scoop you place on the baking sheet. You may end up with 10 - 15 cookies.
I make the Cookie Mix Jars with fresh ingredients so they are good for at least 6 months, but likely longer if stored in a cool, dark place. The brown sugar may harden slightly over time from the air in the jar.
