Fresh Peach Homemade Moonshine is easy to make with only a few ingredients. The fresh peaches are cooked down with peach nectar, cinnamon and nutmeg and then pureed. Grain alcohol is added and then you have the perfect homemade moonshine that any peach-lover will enjoy.
My name is Nichole and I have a moonshine making problem. No, seriously. It started a few summers ago when I got the idea to make some for my mom's annual cookout/family reunion. Since then, I've made it for every one of them. But this year, family members actually asked me to make it for them in specific flavors that they would buy from me.
For the family reunion we had peach and cherry. For the last family party I made sour apple, peach and strawberry. The peach and strawberry flavored moonshines are definitely my favorite, but the creamsicle comes in a close second. I've also made apple pie flavored.
ISN'T MOONSHINE ILLEGAL?
In some states. However, I'm not making 1920's style prohibition-era moonshine. There isn't a still in my backyard or anything. Instead, I use Everclear.
ISN'T EVERCLEAR ILLEGAL?
Also, yes in some states. Maryland banned the sale of Everclear at 190 proof back in 2014. So they remade the recipe at 189 proof and now its legal to sell here again. If you live in a state where you can't find Everclear, there are other grain alcohols you can use. Basically, you want to find the highest proof you possibly can.
WHAT OTHER FLAVORS OF MOONSHINE CAN I MAKE?
Pretty much anything that you can think of. Cherry, apple pie, pumpkin spice, candy cane, creamsicle and strawberry seem to be the most popular ones that I see other bloggers making.
FRESH PEACH HOMEMADE MOONSHINE INGREDIENTS
- 4 large ripe peaches
- 1 container Goya peach nectar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 cup Everclear
FRESH PEACH HOMEMADE MOONSHINE DIRECTIONS
- Peel skin from peaches and remove the pits. Cut into quarters.
- Add peaches, peach nectar, cinnamon stick and nutmeg to a saucepan. Heat over medium high heat until boiling.
- Remove from the heat and let cool. Transfer to a blender or food processor and puree.
- Optional: drain through cheesecloth to remove peach pieces.
- Pour in Everclear.
- Divide between 4 pint sized mason jars.
DO I NEED TO STERILIZE THE JARS?
This depends on how long you want to keep the moonshine around. If you think you can drink it (or give it away), a non sterilized jar with this recipe will last 4-8 weeks in the refrigerator. However, if you choose to sterilize the jars, moonshine can be kept in the fridge or freezer for up to 2 years. Once opened, it will be good for about 3-4 months.

When you say sterilize jars are you referring to processing them in a water bath canner? If so will this not not be good for the alcohol? Hubby loves this recipe but I don’t want him sick so I won’t let it stay in fridge past three months. I am afraid to leave in the cupboard without processing in canner. Thank you for your clarification

Yes, I was referring to processing them in a water bath canner. I did it with half of the recipe and did not notice any difference in the flavor, so I don't believe it had any effort on the alcohol. (I am not a canning expert by any means though!) I'm glad he loves the recipe!

This isn’t moonshine, more like a slushee.

Step 4 of the recipe allows the user to strain the mixture to remove the puree, or slushee, aspect from the recipe if they so chose. I'm sorry you didn't like it.
