Jalapeno Cranberry Bombs are a slightly spicy baked dough filled with ham, swiss cheese, cranberry sauce and pickled jalapeno peppers.
Cranberry sauce is such a take it or leave it item. Most people add it to their Thanksgiving dinner spread but rarely is it the first thing to disappear from the table. I, on the other hand, absolutely love it. I make and freeze cranberry sauce all of the time because there are so many things you can do with it.
But if you find yourself with leftover cranberry sauce after this Thanksgiving holiday, these Jalapeno Cranberry Bombs are a great way to use up the leftovers!
WHAT ARE JALAPENO CRANBERRY BOMBS?
Wrapping items up in a can of refrigerated biscuit dough has become known as a "bomb". They're usually filled with cheese, which, when baked and opened up, oozes out, creating a "bomb" of cheese. This version uses deli ham, cranberry sauce, swiss cheese and pickled jalapeno peppers.
CAN I USED CANNED CRANBERRY SAUCE?
Yes! I know everyone is not a fan of the stuff, so grabbing one of those 8 oz. cans of it works perfectly well in this recipe.
JALAPENO CRANBERRY BOMB SUBSTITUTIONS:
- leftover Thanksgiving turkey, deli turkey or no meat at all
- cheddar, mozzarella, brie, or any cheese that melts nicely
- sliced banana peppers, ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper stirred into the cranberry sauce or no heat at all
JALAPENO CRANBERRY BOMB INGREDIENTS
- 1 can jumbo refrigerated biscuit dough
- 4 slices deli ham
- 2 slices swiss cheese
- ¼ cup cranberry sauce
- 8 pickled jalapeno slices
- 3 tablespoon butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
JALAPENO CRANBERRY BOMB DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350. Line a large baking sheet with foil.
- Flatten out each of the biscuits. Break each slice of cheese into 4 pieces. Divide each piece of ham in half.
- Place a piece of ham, followed by a piece of cheese into the center of each flattened biscuit. Add with a dollop of cranberry sauce and a pickled jalapeno.
- Roll up the dough into a ball, pinching the seams to keep it closed. Place seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each bomb with melted butter and sprinkle with salt and dried rosemary.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool 2 minutes before serving.
